Projects Funded
  • Implemented Leadership Development classes using Louisville area leaders to guide and mentor LMPD Commanding Officers.
  • Partnership with the Jefferson County Public School to create an awareness campaign of the 574-LMPD anonymous tip line for students to be called "Campus Watch."
  • LMPF funded the 2006, 2007 and 2008 LMPD Awards Banquet. The officer and civilian of the year each received a cash gift, plus airline tickets and accommodations anywhere in the U.S.
  • In response to an alarmingly high divorce rate among Officers, the LMPD Command Staff asked the Foundation for ideas to possibly help. In response, LMPF Board-member Pastor Bob Russell initiated a marriage enrichment program to address the issue in an open and comforting environment.
  • Community Partnerships: The LMPF teamed up with the Safety & Security store to purchase 72 "Clubs" to assist the LMPD Safe City program. Also, after a rash of bank robberies, National City Bank asked how they could help the LMPD. As a result, they purchased equipment for the S.W.A.T team.
  • Underwriter for the LMPD Explorer Academy in 2007 & 2008, statewide program that partners with the Boy Scouts of America to develop young men and women for careers in law enforcement.
  • Support for numerous LMPD D.A.R.E Officers to attend an annual training to teach school age children the importance of abstaining from drugs and alcohol.
  • Co-sponsored speaker, author, and "Life-Coach" Tim Enoch at Oxmoor Country Club. The two hour seminar entitled "Every Day Is Game Day" was attended by 45 LMPD Officers at no cost to them.
  • Too many more to list. In the end, our goal is to partner with the LMPD to support and enhance the law enforcement community.
